The primarily challenge you will face before starting a successful transfer is changing the default transfer PIN into your personalized PIN. To change the default MTN transfer PIN, simply send an SMS with the default new PIN to 777. That is: the standard MTN transfer pin is 0000, so if you want to change it to 1234, you’ll need to send an SMS using the shortcodes below:

• To start the transfer, simply dial * 131 * 2 * 1 # or text REG to 131; to register to MTN Data Share, you will receive a unique security PIN, which you can use to share data regularly with friends, family, and colleagues.

Though, the PIN sent to you may be changed. The main reason why you should change your PIN is to remember easily the one you switched to, not the system-generated PIN. To change a PIN into a new PIN, simply dial * 131 * 2 * 5 # or by texting Change OLD_PIN NEW_PIN NEW_PIN to 131.

Example Change 0000 1234 1234 to 131. Where 0000 is the old PIN and 1234 is the new PIN of choice.

After you have effectively changed the PIN to the one you can easily recollect, you need to add beneficiaries to your MTN shared Data Bundle account via USSD menu *131*2*2# or by texting Add <MSISDN> <PIN> to 131. You can add up to 5 beneficiaries which you can share your DATA bundles with.

As soon as you have added beneficiaries, you (the sponsor) will be able to share your existing data bundle among the added beneficiaries by texting Share <PIN> to 131 or by simply dialing the USSD code

 * 131 * 2 * 3 #.
