Facebook has announced the expansion of its online dating service to Europe, more than a year after it was launched in the U.S.
As explained by Facebook:
“Today, we are launching Facebook Dating in Europe to help more people find meaningful relationships with things they have in common, such as interests, events, and groups. Since the launch of Facebook Dating, more than 1.5 billion games have been played in 20 countries”
The platform, simply known as “Facebook Dating,” is aimed at helping Facebook users find partners on things they have in common like interests, events, and groups.
Those who want to access the online service, which has a dedicated Facebook application, should set up a Facebook Dating profile.
Once registered, Facebook users can share private “Stories” on their dating profile, in addition to Stories from their main Facebook or Instagram account.
While the service still only appears as a tab in Facebook’s mobile app, it’s deeply incorporated with the rest of the social giant’s products.
Your profile can draw news and photos from Instagram, you can start Messenger calls from conversations, and the Splashy Secret Crush feature searches your Instagram followers and Facebook friends for would-be games matches.
The dating service proposes the same structures in Europe as it does in the US, using the current profile you created on Facebook to find would-be matches.
Facebook creates these matches to your liking, Facebook activity, groups, and events.
