If you’re unfamiliar, the dock is the Apple Watch’s equivalent of the iPhone’s app switcher.

When you tap the screen of the Apple Watch, it usually stays active for 15 seconds.

However, you can increase that to 70 seconds by opening the Settings menu on your watch, selecting Display & Brightness, and then selecting Wake Duration.

Then, choose the Wake for 70 Seconds option.

Stop all apps from Installing Automatically.

When you install an app on your iPhone, it will also install its Apple Watch counterpart if one exists.

This might soon clog up your watch’s app grid, making it difficult to find the apps you do want to use on your watch.

The Breathe reminder is intended to help you take a few minutes to clear your mind and control your respiration, potentially reducing your pulse rate and making you feel more centered and relaxed.

If, like me, you never heed the prompt, take a few seconds to switch it off so you’re not reminded to breathe.

On your iPhone, launch the Apple Watch app, then scroll down and tap the Mindfulness app option.

Then, turn off Notifications.

(Note: If your watch doesn’t have WatchOS 8, this will appear as Breathe rather than Mindfulness.)

Use your iPhone to unlock your Apple Watch.

Entering your passcode to open your Apple Watch can be tedious, but there is a quicker option.

When your iPhone is unlocked, you can set your Apple Watch to unlock automatically.

Navigate to the Apple Watch’s Settings menu by tapping the Digital Crown.

Scroll down to Passcode and turn on the switch next to Unlock with iPhone.

When you utilize this method, your iPhone will now display a notice stating that your iPhone is being used to unlock your Apple Watch.

To open your Apple Watch, you must normally enter its passcode.

There are plenty other Apple Watch features worth exploring. For example, the ECG app can assist spot irregular heartbeats, there are new Pilates and Tai Chi training options, and you can even share your personalized watch faces.

The Apple Watch Series 7 includes the same health monitoring features as the Series 6.

The Apple Watch also lacks the battery capacity to be used continuously in the absence of an iPhone.
